Molten tools are formed from a dense lava, granting them not only high damage and durability, but the ability to catch enemies on fire without needing a Fire Aspect enchantment.

Molten can be considered an alternative to the vanilla Netherite tier. Both are found deep in the Nether and with similar rarities. However, Molten Tools have a higher attack speed and damage (excluding the sword, which has the same damage output) while having a durability approximately 6.6% lower than Netherite.
When calculating DPS, the Molten Sword is able to out-damage the Netherite Sword due to its 17.14% increased attack speed. If comparing two unenchanted swords, the fire inflicting ability increases the damage output. Even with a Fire Aspect II Netherite Sword, a Molten Sword inflicts fire for 10 seconds (compared to 8 seconds with Fire Aspect II), which allows it to inflict slightly more fire damage.
As it is a Netherite-tier tool, it is able to break Astral and Starstorm materials.
